Finally, We’re Off To Paint!

I have some really exciting news: the car is off to paint!

Sadly, I don’t have any initial pictures of the car at the paint shop but I’ll be able to post some soon. However, I do have some pictures from earlier this week when I rolled the fenders…

Here’s what they looked like inside…super flat:

I actually pulled them QUITE a lot. It might be hard to see in the pictures but they’re over an inch wider than stock:

I seem to have lost the pictures of the rear fenders. I had to get really aggressive with them and I actually put some basketball-sized dents in the quarter panels. I didn’t care since the car was going straight to the body shop after and when I went to look at the car yesterday the dents were already gone.

As for the paint, the color is officially 2008 DGM (Dark Grey Metallic). The inside and engine bay are being painted with Lilith Charcoal Zolatone. Zolatone is this crazy water based paint that is highly textured, easy to clean, requires no clear coat, and is completely scratch and abrasion resistant. It’s lighter than paint + clear coat and is functionally superior than just about anything I could spray on the inside. The charcoal looks like this:

I’ll post some updates with pictures when I have them.
