Aluminum Trunk Floor Finished


The trunk floor is done! Here’s what the piece ended up looking like:

Then we put it in with temporary rivet clamps:

Obviously we skipped quite a number of holes with the rivet clamps, but you get the idea:

It weighs less than 5 pounds as opposed to about 50 for the stock spare tire tub, so that’s a significant savings!

Once everything is painted it will actually get riveted in.

    Careful, the back end on these cars gets very light in a hurry. Once you add in the DOHC motor, turbo, big radiator, the front/rear weight distribution gets a bit funky. On my project I ended up beefing up the rear diff/subframe area with heavier items just to get the ballance back. My car has an alum. hood, light battery, etc., Still had some extra weight on the nose.
