I just got back from APR with some goodies.
I immediately took the wing out of the box because I had to feel how light it was. Dry carbon is just amazing…the cardboard box it was in weighed more than the wing. It’s 2 pounds.
Then it was time to take the mirrors out of the box:
They also weigh about 2 lbs. The mirror itself weighs more than the carbon housing that it sits inside of:
And finally we have the risers for the wing. These attach to the posts to raise the wing an additional 2 inches. Sadly, they weigh about as much as the wing (1.5 lbs). They’re made out of this heavy stuff called aluminum.
In total all of this will weigh about 8 lbs. The wing with posts, side plates, and risers is about 5 lbs and the mirrors are about 3 lbs for the pair. Not too shabby!
I’m going to be working with APR next week to create a custom front splitter for the GC8. It will look like my old splitter (pictured), the only difference being this will fit a 2001 RS bumper instead of a 2005 STI bumper:
