First off, let me apologize for the picture quality. I had to take these with my iPhone because I left my camera at home. With that said, here are a few pics of the day’s progress:
Have you ever stood INSIDE of a trunk before? I certainly haven’t. There’s a first time for everything I guess:
That was possible thanks to the first major round of weight reduction. Yes, you’re looking at the entire floor of the trunk (spare tire tub) and the rear deck lid:

Then Kyle got to work doing what he does best. He likes to shoot sparks, light things on fire…that kind of thing. He started off by cutting out the rear seat brackets for some additional weight savings:

He then welded the entire rear strut area in preparation for the L-shaped plates that would attach to the rear strut X:

Once that was done and the plates were on, the main rear strut bar went in:

Then Kyle put on another light show:

And poof, the rear strut X was in:

Quite a bit else happened today but it was hard enough to just take those pictures with my phone. I’ll be back at the shop on Friday with a real camera to take pictures of the cage itself. The work on the main hoop begins tomorrow!
